Canadian Pop artist Tamara Grace is a young, phenomenally powerful lyricist who uses her vulnerable song-writing as an outlet for all of the emotions and feelings that she just can’t keep to herself. Born and raised in Montréal, Québec and growing up in a musical household where she began writing lyrics in a private journal from the young age of 8, Tamara has become a skilled master at turning her feelings into lyrics. Weaving her often emotional and introspective lyrics with pop-infused melodies and personal stories, Tamara is ready to share her new, spirited sound with the world as she exposes a fierce, never-before seen side of her musical abilities. With her previously released singles being featured across numerous publications like Wonderland Magazine, Tinnitist, VENTS Magazine and Music Crowns, the Montreal based artist has stepped into the music scene with a mission to shed light on the thoughts, emotions and life experiences that she once hid in the dark. Her brand new, high-energy Pop song “Bad Girl” has just been released on Friday, November 26 2021.
Known for writing slower-tempo ballads, Tamara’s “ Bad Girl” marks a noticeable departure from the artists’ usual sound. The mid-tempo track is driven by a distinct and continuous drum beat, and was produced by local music producer Michael Benjoar. An ode to avoiding superficial love, “Bad Girl” serves as a reminder to listeners that they should stay true to themselves, no matter what.
About “Bad Girl”:
Stemming from burnt-out romantic relationships and friendships, Tamara penned “Bad Girl” with feelings of frustration and sadness after feeling taken advantage of and misunderstood. Describing “Bad Girl” as a “punch in the gut”, Tamara uses her expressive lyrics and bold melody to tell the story of a girl who wants to be seen for who she truly is on the inside. Flawlessly offering a raw and honest retrospective look at the ways she has been overly dependent and naive in past relationships, Tamara sends a warning that ‘hurt people hurt people’, all while calling out for a love that is real, healthy, and authentic. With the lyrics written in only two hours, “Bad Girl” initially started out as a Country-Pop ballad, and was later transformed into a mid-tempo pop song after Tamara took to her keyboard to test bass sounds. After presenting the song to one of her biggest fans - her father, who tapped his foot along to her performance of the song, Tamara added the drum beat “Bad Girl” features today, which is the exact cadence of her fathers rhythm. Through mixing and mastering by Michael Benjoar of QDS recording studio, “Bad Girl” is unlike any song Tamara has ever crafted before, showcasing a new side of her vast musical abilities.
Citing a diverse group of talent from music icons Freddie Mercury, Stromaë, Lady Gaga and Adele as her musical inspirations, Tamara crafts her music with their styles of song-structuring and vulnerable song-writing in mind. Her mission is to connect with her listeners and remind them that everyone deserves love that is focused on who each of them are on the inside, rather than the often superficial focus on outer beauty. Tamara’s advanced, relatable lyrics and musicality have set her apart, and her new single, “Bad Girl” will be sure to delight her current and soon-to-be fans, alike.
Quote:
“Bad Girl is about a girl who wants nothing but to be loved for the person she is on the inside, rather than for who she is on the outside. She wants to be taken care of, as she is someone who tends to be unstable and dependent on others. She is wise, intelligent and kind, but can be naïve and at times, cold. Because of her striking beauty, she is rarely taken seriously and is often taken advantage of. And because of those who doubt her, it drives her mad to the point she can no longer control the anger she has been feeling.” - Tamara Grace
Biography:
My name is Tamara Grace and I’m a 20-year-old singer/songwriter and musician, born and raised in the west coast of Montréal, Québec, Canada. From as young as a toddler, I’ve already shown a great interest in the entertainment industry, in all its artistic forms. Raised into a small musical family filled with aspiring creatives, I’ve always been surrounded by music, from attending concerts and recitals to watching my uncles do band practices. My tiny family introduced me to a blend of music styles such as Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz, Classical, Country… and that’s only naming a few. To have been able to grow up around such a musical atmosphere, it brought me to dream big despite being shy and timid.
During my childhood years, I was bullied quite a lot, which made me develop a tower of insecurities, anxiety and depression. At the age of 8, I turned to music for comfort, as it was the only thing I felt understood the way I was feeling. I would spend my days and nights in my bedroom writing those feelings and thoughts in my diary. However, it didn’t take long for my words to transform into lyrics and melodies. Songwriting was not only a source of comfort, but it then became a natural passion. My thoughts, emotions and life experiences that were once hidden in the dark, became my biggest tools when creating music. I decided to start releasing my original music at age 17 in 2018.
I released my debut single “Teddy Bear” that year, being inspired by my high school heartbreak. Several years later, I then made the decision to take a year-and-a-half off to focus on my mental health and my education. During the break, I continued to write music, however in private. Feeling healthier and happier than ever in 2020, despite the rocky times, I regained hope, purpose and confidence to burst back onto the music scene. Doing so in early 2021, I came back with a new release “Sad Boys”. I am now set to release my third single titled “Bad Girl” in November of 2021.
